Joel has a lot on his plate: hungry locusts, deadly drought, rain, a miraculously full harvest, and overflowing wine casks. And we have our modern-day equivalents: dramatic rescues, the sudden loss of a job, miraculous recovery from an incurable illness, and hurricanes that devastate communities … or turn harmlessly out to sea at the last minute.
